In 1/2025, Travis Di Lombardi-Spicer (30) retired as soon as he was denied a raise and felt artificial intelligence (AI) could erase his work. News of companies such as Amazon, Salesforce and Block - cited AI when sacking tens of thousands of employees during the past year - is part of his decision to leave his former job. Spicer wanted to take the initiative, instead of continuing to make about $750,000 per year from full-time audio production and free projects, then waiting for AI to replace himself.

Realizing that the labor market is also unstable, Spicer moved to his start. He sold his personal property and withdrew money from his savings account to get 40,000 dollars, then released Spotbookr's demo version in May 2025. This is the basis of consumer spending analysis and advertising, which has AI applications.

Based on data from the U.S. Department of Population Investigations, CNBC states that Americans have filed 1.56 million application to establish business in November/2025 to January 1/2026. This has been the highest level for over 20 years.

In fact, this trend is predictable. When workers have difficulty finding jobs, especially in the delays of the job market or mass dismissal, they tend to build more businesses themselves.

However, the beginning wave of this time differed. Fear of future dismissals, some Americans take the initiative to resign before being cut. Many say that AI helps startup become easier. Others say that they want to decide for themselves the time to leave before becoming victims of the fires involving artificial intelligence. Spicer said himself as an example of both trends.

"The book for sound projects is getting lower and lower. I just want initiative", Spicer said.

The start was high risk. According to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, about 25% of the country's new businesses could not survive the first year.

The laborer, however, is increasingly concerned about the risks of working in the traditional office, in the context of experts and business leaders that predict the labor force will make major changes. In Resume Now's survey last year with more than 1,000 adults having jobs in the United States, 40% said AI had "placed, reduced or duplicated" parts of their work. 29% recognized AI as able to perform at least half his daily tasks.

After five years as a software engineer at a large media corporation in America, Michelle Yeung (29 years old) said she felt unhappy. Yeung earned about $250,000 a year, including bonus money. However, the more AI develops, the more she realizes that this technology can replace her and feel disoriented.

Yeung says that outside AI there are many other factors that make yourself unhappy with the work. She wanted to "from giving about 20% of herself to 200% for something".

Early 2025, Yeung quits his job and uses his savings to open Matcha House's in East Village, New York in July of the same year. "I love making something of my own and giving it to customers, and building a relationship with them," she said.

Yeung and Spicer say they do not currently have wages from his new businesses and accept reduced spending. Spicer's girlfriend currently carries much of the cost of their living together. Meanwhile, Yeung moved to a cheaper apartment and was with a new friend.

Todd McCracken, Chairman of the Small Business Association in the United States, claimed that employment in the business was far less stable than it was before, causing many people to want to start a career. The U.S. noted a sharp decline in the number of new jobs in 2025, with 116,000 positions being created compared to the one,46 million years ago.

Experts claim that AI can threaten the job stability of some workers. Even so, this technology has made it easier for people who want to start a career. AI can support creating the basic website or building business plans without expertise. In some cases, artificial intelligence can also handle the basic tasks that the founder had previously had to do himself or hire others to perform.

Shahzad Contractor (44 years old) is the founder and CEO of Cousin's Food Restaurant series in Philadelphia. Contractor has worked in information technology for 24 years. He said that the spread of AI in technology was one of the factors that motivated him to quit his 2024 job to start his career. Last year, Contractor's unification sales were over $4 million.

Contractor said that he regularly used AI, especially large language models such as Claude, to create the idea of social networking content, to build employee training and advertising material. "Before, I have to hire content writers," he said, but AI helped you fill the gap skills to do it on your own. He even used AI to find new locations for the restaurant system and to build financial forecasts for existing stores.

Benjamin Jones - Professor of the Beginnings and Structures at Kellogg School of Management of the University of Malankov claimed that AI could support some small business owners, but did not guarantee success in the long term. "Many startup equals more competition," he said.

However, Jones thinks that starting requires always taking risks and failings. "It's hard to know what works until you try. When you start a new business, you're already involved in the adventure," he said.
