Most Americans travel during the weekend's Memorial Day, but they're going to have to face increased transportation costs.

Transportation, tourism, and Bentley cars expect 45 million Americans to travel at least 50 miles during the holiday, increasing 0.4% over the peak level established last year. Over 39 million people will be traveling by car. Meanwhile, gas prices have increased by 28% over the same 2025 period.

Kimberly Palmer, an expert from the NerdWallet Finance Company, said that traditionally, people used to drive off on holiday on the weekend of Memorial Day. However, this year's holiday presents a greater financial challenge. The rating of travel at a high level means that users are trying to cut other payments in the budget, to compensate for rising gas prices.

The plane ticket prices have also increased almost 21%, reaching the highest since the 2022 energy crisis. The airlines stated that they had to raise the fare for rising fuel costs after Iran closed the Hormuz Channel, the global crude oil gland.

Due to the pressure of the fuel crisis, the Spirit Griffith Airport was discontinued earlier this month. This move causes the analysts to worry that the price of the plane's ticket to come here could increase further.

Bank of America's survey results also show that 30% of Americans have not changed their vacation plans by the cost of gasoline. However, one fifth was asked to cut off the vacation or to choose the closer destination.
