On 11 June, the Argentina team confirmed the Senesi summons to replace Leonardo Barkerdi with injury. When Coach Lionel Scaloni called, Senesi was on vacation with his girlfriend Kelci-Rose Bowers in Ibiza, Spain.
Videos shared by Bowers show how things work out. "We've just returned from Miami (American), then to Ibiza to relax a bit", Bowers explained while Senesi spoke on the phone with Coach Scaloni. "But all this time, we've been aware that there's an injury guard. We can't enjoy the entire holiday, you know me. And now Marcos is summoned. This is what we prayed for. Every day, he thinks about it".
After hanging up, Senesi hugged Bowers and shouted together with joy.

On social networks, many members congratulate the handsome couple. But some other members criticized Bowers for filming the video, posted online the phone call of Coach Scaloni, claiming she lived overly showy and did not know how to keep privacy.

Others claim that Senesi may not be played at the World Cup, since it is only the fifth option after the guard Nicolas Otamendi, Cristeau Romero, Lisadro Martinez and Facundo Medina.
