Repeating the 2022 World Cup Finals with Argentina, Van Djök admitted that it was one of the most memorable games of his career. That match, the Netherlands was led two desks but reconciled 2-2 before the defeat on the lunar dot. Van Djk was one of the two failed kickers, alongside Steven Berghuis, making the Netherlands lose 3-4.
"It's a very tense match before a big opponent," said Van Djk. "We mend and create very large motivations. Maybe we should have continued to exert more pressure, but looking back, things were always easier to say. The fact that Argentina then won the World Cup was somewhat to our ease, because at least we only lost to the champion".
According to Van Djk, the biggest lesson from the match was the fighting spirit and the collective unity: "The team's "subscription together to celebrate the 2-2 table on the corner column or the penalty situation leading to the winning table is the wonderful memories I'll never forget".

Netherlands 2-2 (3-4 pen) Argentina
The major development of the Battle of Holland - Argentina at the 2022 World Cup Finals on December 9, 2022.
After the journey into the 2022 World Cup finals and semi-finaling Euro 2024, Van Djk claimed that the Netherlands entered the 2026 World Cup with a completely different spirit. Liverpool's guard believed that the experiences accumulated in the major leagues would make the team stronger as they headed towards the goal of conquering the first gold Cup in history.
"You always carry experience from previous leagues. Hopefully we can take advantage of that to achieve success", 34-year-old guard expressed. "At the World Cup, not just the best players are gonna be champions. There are many factors that determine success. We'll do our best, we'll also enjoy the tournament by representing the country at the World Cup as the peak of any player's career".

The Netherlands was three times into the World Cup Finals in the 1974s, 1978 and 2010s but missed the championship. Van Djk said he still remembers the 2010 World Cup and Arjen Robben's missed opportunity before Spain.
"It was an unforgettable moment. Even so, with a small country like the Netherlands, we have a history of great pride. The only thing missing is the World Championship Cup," he shared.

The Netherlands prepares for the 2026 World Cup
The Netherlands prepares for the 2026 World Cup.
In the 2026 World Cup round, the Netherlands meets Japan, Sweden, and Kazakhstan. When asked if the current generation was capable of the World Cup championship, Van Djök did not hesitate to answer yes.
He claimed that many Dutch players had accumulated experience from Euro 2024, which was entering the career-high stage and competing for the leading European clubs. However, the determining factor remains the collective strength. "The important thing is not which teams own the best players, but which teams have the strongest collective. We have to find the right recipe for success", the player of the Liverpool Borders insists.
Reflecting on the conversation, Van Djök claimed that he fully believed in the ability to create the feat of the Dutch Draft at the 2026 World Cup: "We are a very connected group and I really believe that. Of course you need a little more luck, moments of personal shine and avoid injury. But when I look at the current formation and what we can achieve, I believe the Netherlands can do something very special."
