Trong thông cáo ngày 21/6, tờ L'Equipecho biết: "Những phát biểu của Pierron trong chương trình ngày 19/6 gây sốc cho nhiều khán giả. L'Equipe hoàn toàn không đồng tình với các bình luận này vì chúng đi ngược lại các giá trị của tập đoàn. Chúng tôi xin lỗi cầu thủ liên quan cũng như người hâm mộ".
Thực tế, Pierron đã không xuất hiện trong số phát sóng tiếp theo của chương trình "L'Equipe de Choc" như kế hoạch ban đầu, cho thấy bà dường như đã bị tạm đình chỉ công việc.

Sự việc bắt nguồn từ một chia sẻ gần đây của Doku, liên quan đến khả năng sẽ bay về Bỉ để cùng vợ đón con gái đầu lòng. Vợ của anh, Shireen Erin Lyannda Raymond dự sinh vào tuần thứ hai của tháng 7, trùng với vòng tứ kết World Cup 2026. Nếu sau đó Bỉ tiến sau, Doku sẽ quay trở lại với giải đấu tại Bắc Mỹ.

"Những phát biểu đó không đại diện cho bất kỳ lập trường tập thể nào. Tôi hiểu rằng chúng có thể khiến nhiều người bị tổn thương và xin lỗi vì điều đó", bà viết.
L'Equipelànhật báo thể thao nổi tiếng nhất của Pháp. Cùng với tạp chí France Football, tờ báo này thuộc sở hữu của Tập đoàn truyền thông Editions Philippe Amaury*,*vốn sáng lập ra giải đua xe đạp Tour de France và giải thưởng Quả Bóng Vàng.

Trái ngược quan điểm của L'Equipe, Hiệp hội Nữ nhà báo thể thao Pháp lên tiếng bảo vệ Pierron trước các hành vi công kích cá nhân. Tổ chức này cho biết họ "hoàn toàn không đồng tình" với quan điểm của nữ MC, nhưng cũng phản đối những chiến dịch quấy rối nhằm vào bà.
Tuy nhiên, tiền đạo đội tuyển Anh Ollie Watkins công khai ủng hộ quyết định của Doku. "Tôi không nghĩ từ 'đáng ghê tởm' có thể dùng để mô tả việc sinh con. Đứa con đầu lòng chỉ đến một lần trong đời. Được chào đón con đến với thế giới là điều vô giá", Watkins nói trong buổi họp báo ngày 22/6.
Tiền đạo thuộc biên chế Aston Villa cho rằng Doku hoàn toàn có quyền trở về bên gia đình trong thời khắc quan trọng này, tin chắc đồng nghiệp sẽ nhận được mọi sự hỗ trợ cần thiết để có mặt bên vợ rồi nhanh chóng quay lại đội tuyển.
Tại World Cup 2026, Doku đã thi đấu 86 phút trong trận Bỉ ra quân hòa Ai Cập 1-1, trước khi vắng mặt ở lượt thứ hai hoà Iran 0-0 vì bị ốm.
