Last week, the U.S. Ministry of Finance issued a joint license, allowing American companies to buy, sell, transport and refined Venezuelan crude oil along with some other activities. However, this license does not include such activities as polling and exploiting. Previously, these activities were banned under US sanctions.
"The President's army is working continuously to make sure the oil companies can invest in Venezuela's oil infrastructure", White House spokesman Taylor Rogers said the date was 340.

Currently, Chevron is the only American company allowed to mine oil in Venezuela. They have special licenses issued by the US Department of Finance. The oil also has several trades with Venezuelan Oil Company Petrónes de Venezuela (PDVSA).

The government of Venezuela last week also passed reforms in order to loosen control with the oil industry and give more autonomy to private businesses.
Even so, the response of oil companies to investment in Venezuela remained in the wrong direction. During the meeting at the White House on 9 January, CEO ExxonMobil Darren Woods said Venezuela needed major reforms and is currently "unconventable". Exxon was twice confiscated by the state government. Meanwhile, independent oil companies and small-scale rock oil companies have shown interest in the potential of South America.
Chevron CEO Mike Wirth said that increased production in Venezuela could add 50% in 18-24 months if approved by the US. Chevron currently produces about 250,000 barrels of oil a day here.
Venezuela is one of the founding members of the Oil Export Nations (OPEC). OPEC's latest data indicates that by 2024, the world's largest oil reserves of the water are 303 billion barrels, which are 17% worldwide.
